September is the month that the Blackpool skies light up with sensational pyrotechnic displays at the annual Blackpool World Fireworks Championship providing stunning displays on Friday nights during the month making a great start to a long weekend in Blackpool.

The Blackpool Fireworks Competition is famous for its ground breaking, breathtaking displays attracting the top pyrotechnics experts from around the world and this year will be no exception with fierce competition for the accolades on the final Friday evening. The competition culminating in a non competing display from the United Kingdoms very own Titanium Fireworks team on the final Friday. Fireworks displays are loved by all the family, young and not so young alike, bring along the whole family for an exhilarating evening of stunning audio visual entertainment.
The competitors at the 2017 Blackpool World Fireworks Championship are yet to be confirmed but the displays will take place on:
- Friday 8th September – Super Power – Poland
- Friday 15th September – Brezac Artifices – France
- Friday 22nd September – Fireworks For Africa – South Africa
- Friday 29th September – Non competing Fireworks Display by a UK team and the competition winner announcement
The build up starts at 7.30pm with first ignition around 8.30pm each evening. The event is subject to weather of course and may be re located further up the Promenade or postponed in the event of adverse conditions.
Blackpool Fireworks competition is a free event with the launch taking place from North pier and the best vantage point is Tower Festival headland just in front of Blackpool tower.
Visitors arriving by car follow signs for south or central car parks.
Blackpool Illuminations are on into November this year, plenty of time to arrange a weekend break to enjoy the bracing sea air and a warm Blackpool welcome.
