Blackpool Fireworks Display
Blackpool International Fireworks Competition 2013 will light up the skies above Blackpool once again over four weekends this September with spectacular free fireworks displays.

The finest Fireworks and Pyrotechnics experts from around the world will be in competition on Friday evenings during the month, this year teams from Ireland, China and France will do battle whilst Kimbolton fireworks from England will provide a fireworks display on the final Friday awards evening.
Four weeks of internationally renowned fireworks displays, and the lights, Blackpool Illuminations are in full swing during September, making this a splendid time for a weekend break in Blackpool.
- On Friday 6th September the first fireworks display team we see are from Ireland, expect a flamboyant Irish display to get this years competition under way, plenty of green fireworks here, don’t you think. The whole weekend is bound to have an Irish theme around town as local bars and clubs celebrate. Low tide is predicted for 6.54pm and the lights switch on 8.00pm to midnight.
- Friday 13th September and China will be showing us what they can do. Over in China the people love their fireworks and China is recognised as the home of fireworks displays. Expect a Chinese spectacular this Friday. Low tide for today is predicted at 5.45pm and the illuminations switch on 7.45pm to midnight.
- On Friday 20th September the third fireworks display team we entertain are from France. The French are regular visitors to the Blackpool International Fireworks Competition and we expect a dazzling display of French panache. Low tide predicted for 7.03pm with the illuminations switch on 7.30pm to midnight.
- Friday 27th September. The final fireworks display of 2013 is a non competition display from an English company, a sensational close to the competition and announcing the winners of this years Blackpool International Fireworks Competition. The Illuminations switch on times for this Friday are 7.15pm to midnight. A fabulous start to a weekend in Blackpool. This weekend also has the Indoor Hot Rod & Custom Car Show.
The fireworks displays at Blackpool international fireworks competition 2013 are set to music and are launched from North Pier, the best viewing positions are close to the pier such as Tower Festival Headland, the Promenade and north of the pier. Closer to the pier the music will be more audible.
The build up starts at 7.30pm with first ignition at 8.30pm. The event is subject to weather of course and may be re located further up the Promenade or postponed in the event of adverse conditions. Tune in to Radio Wave for up to the minute information.
Blackpool International Fireworks Competition has been running for several years now and is a big crowd pleaser, we all like to see the fireworks light up the autumn skies over Blackpool Golden Mile, the lights, the noise, the music all make an exciting evening for all the family. Arrive early to get settled in your viewing position before lift off.
Visitors arriving by car follow signs for south or central car parks.
Blackpool Illuminations are on into November this year, plenty of time to arrange a weekend break to enjoy the bracing sea air and a warm Blackpool welcome.
